I love helping nonprofits tell their stories to build brand awareness, reach fundraising goals, become more confident thought leaders, and — ultimately — deepen impact.

About Me

Hi, I’m Alison. I’ve had the privilege of building a career at the intersection of things that I love to do: communications, working with kids, and making a positive impact in the world.

Over the last decade, I’ve worked at small nonprofits in the Bay Area, including Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and The Primary School in East Palo Alto. As I grew in my career, I started to notice some common themes. Many nonprofits needed help to: 1) succinctly describe who they are and what they do; 2) showcase staff expertise by developing their thought leadership skills; 3) produce collateral that was visually clear and compelling; and 4) understand the effectiveness of their websites and social media channels (which often required a lot of staff time to maintain!).

As a communications consultant, I’m passionate about helping nonprofits overcome these challenges and discover the joy and power of clear, strategic, and effective communications.

  • I start with an audit to highlight strengths and areas of improvement. From there, I work with you to develop a communications plan that aligns with larger organizational goals.

  • I can do everything from developing key messaging, to writing blog posts, working with staff to write thought leadership pieces, drafting talking points, or designing email campaigns.

  • I can refresh your website and manage your social media channels (after first working with you to make sure these are the right channels to reach your target audiences).

  • I can create one-pagers, social media graphics, slide decks, and other simple pieces of collateral. I also have experience developing content and working with designers and videographers to produce more complex pieces of collateral, like annual reports and videos showcasing what you do.
